28mm Synthetic Hemp rope sold cut to length (maximum continuous length 220 metres).

For one piece of rope: Please use the quantity box to let us know the length you require in metres and we will send you one continuous length.

For multiple pieces: Please enter the total length in metres in the quantity box. Then tell us the number and lengths you require when you check out, using the “delivery notes and additional comments” box.

The standard finish for this rope is for both the left and right ends to be heat sealed. If you would like to have them either whipped, soft spliced or hard spliced please visit our 'rope end finishes' category.

Synthetic Hemp, sometimes called Hempex, is a strong, weatherproof, synthetic rope made to look like a natural hemp rope. This soft handling rope is ideal for outdoor use and particularly suitable for children's play equipment.

If you are choosing Synthetic Hemp for decking or garden rails, wait for the rope to arrive before drilling holes. Holes will need to be larger than the rope diameter - we advise drilling a test hole first. Watch our video for guidance and top tips.

We also sell a range of quality brass fittings, such as end hooks, end cup/plates, caps and centre brackets that will finish your project with style!

Also available in different diameters, and in discounted bulk coils or wound on handy reels.

Why is 28mm synthetic hemp popular as garden rope?

Synthetic hemp has a number of properties that make it suitable as garden rope.  For example, it is durable and hard-wearing. It demonstrates excellent UV resistance and doesn’t swell or shrink when it gets wet – making it perfect for prolonged outdoor use.

It’s also incredibly soft to touch. It has an attractive natural hemp appearance and, when bought in this 28mm diameter, offers a wide range of potential uses for the home gardener.

How can I use 28mm synthetic hemp in my garden?

It is often used as a rope fence or border – perhaps to surround decking or a lawn – or to create a fun children’s play area with rope swings and ladders. Check out our blog – ‘Get your garden summer-ready with garden ropes’– for a range of creative ideas.

Absolutely first rate service

We have just had a patio installed and wanted some rope to connect the posts. Amazingly we managed to get some measurements wrong, (my wife calls it a typo). But ropes direct spotted the error. Very prompt and efficient service. Quality is excellent. Highly recommended.Ian Newman (11 Sep 2023, 19:48)

Perfect

I rang up a couple of times for advice and then ordered the rope online. We wanted the length cut in two which was done. Looks fantastic as we wanted it for a rope fence around newly landscaped front garden. Really finishes the garden off and the rope is just perfect and was flexible enough to tie knots at the ends. Would highly recommend rope, customer service and delivery which was quickDebbie (7 Sep 2022, 08:43)

Shall certainly order from here for any future projects and will recommend to family and friends...MR I C TOLTON (22 May 2022, 18:29)
