Description

D-Splicer Sailor Splicing Kit – 1mm to 16mm Rope

The D-Splicer Sailor Kit is a compact collection of essential tools for splicing and repairing ropes from 1mm to 16mm diameter.

Combining traditional Selma splicing fids with a D-Splicer fixed pulling needle gives the kit the versatility to tackle a wide variety of rope constructions. D-Splicer tools are particularly well suited to braided modern fibres such as HMPE/Dyneema, polyester, Vectran and aramid, where the line needs to be pulled through the body or cover of the rope.

The Sailor Kit is a useful choice for jobs such as:

  • Making and repairing eye splices
  • Splicing halyards, sheets and control lines
  • Working with braided polyester and HMPE ropes
  • Making loops and other small rope assemblies
  • Whipping and finishing rope ends
  • Carrying out general rope repairs and maintenance

The ceramic knife provides a sharp cutting tool for modern high-performance fibres, while the included whipping twine, needles and splicing tape allow many common finishing jobs to be completed from the same kit.

Everything is kept together in the supplied D-Splicer P-40 pouch, making the Sailor Kit easy to store on board, carry in a tool bag or keep ready for use in the workshop.

Kit contents:

  • D-Splicer P-40 storage pouch
  • Selma splicing fid set
  • D-Splicer F-15 fixed needle
  • D-Splicer C-20 ceramic knife
  • Whipping twine
  • Needle set
  • Splicing tape

Having discovered Ropes Direct from an online search and social media, it was a real pleasure working with their wonderful staff to achieve the vision to complete our new decking rails.

The website provides detailed information and advice, so we decided to order the 32mm synthetic hemp rope and 32mm matt black rope end cups/plates.

We sent an email with our initial measurements and quickly received a phone call to talk us through how we could more accurately re-measure and calculate the swag we wished to achieve. We were also delighted to learn that Ropes Direct could fit the rope ends for us, for a very reasonable charge, so all that we would be required to do was to screw the fittings into the posts.
After placing our order we promptly received confirmation and our invoice. We then received an email 4 days later, advising that our order was on its way and provided tracking information.
We received our order promptly and found the items to be well packaged and each rope clearly labelled. We were impressed with the quality of the items received, which looked as pictured on the website, but still exceeded expectation.
We are thrilled with the finished results and are happy to share our experience and photographs of our rope barrier in situ.
We can wholeheartedly recommend Ropes Direct, who provided professional and friendly advice, and also excellent service and communication throughout.
A first class experience!
