8mm Yellow HMPE 12-strand - 100m reel
8mm Yellow HMPE rope on a 100m reel.
HMPE (High Modulus Polyethylene) is perhaps the strongest type of rope in the world. It is a high-performance solution for demanding applications where strength, durability, and very low stretch are essential. Often used as a lightweight alternative to steel wire, it is ideal for lifting, towing, winching, mooring, anchoring, and dairy slurry scraper systems.
The manufacturing process involves heating under tension which trains the molecules to withstand greater loads. And because it has an abrasion-resistant PU coating, it can resist grit and dirt for longer. All this is why our 12-strand HMPE rope is perfect for working in the toughest conditions like forests, in rough countryside, at sea and on farms. It’s also a go-to rope for theatres, film sets and other settings where you need higher strength in a thinner rope.
Why Choose HMPE Instead of Steel Wire?
Designed to replace steel wire winch ropes on 4x4s and recovery vehicles, HMPE rope is lighter and typically stronger for the same diameter, with low stretch for more predictable towing and recovery. Unlike steel wire, which can recoil dangerously if it snaps, HMPE rope dissipates energy at maximum breaking load and does not ‘whip’, making towing and recovery operations safer and easier.
Typical Uses for HMPE Rope
Easy to Work With
It is lightweight, flexible and easy to handle, so a pleasure to use.
