Our popular synthetic hemp rope offers the classic look and feel of natural hemp, with added strength, durability and weatherproof performance — it won’t shrink or swell and even floats.

This 32mm rope is perfect for rope rails in the house - including bannister rope - and outside - including decking rails, barrier rope, rope rails along fences and flower beds and in children's play areas. It is widely used in public spaces such as parks, tourist attractions and holiday areas.

One piece of rope: Use the quantity box to let us know the length you require in full metres and we will send you one continuous length (max 220m).

Multiple pieces: Enter the total length in full metres in the quantity box. Then tell us the number and lengths you require using the "Add Order Note" in your cart.

Delivery and Shipping

We operate a very quick turnaround, from the moment you place an order to getting it on board a fast and reliable courier service. They deliver direct to your home or workplace.

NEXT WORKING DAY: Customers in mainland UK (excluding Islands and Scottish Highlands) will usually enjoy next working day delivery on orders placed before midday. When it is really busy the delivery timescale might be 1-2 working days. For heavy items
(over 30kg) the delivery can take a little longer.

COLLECT FROM WAREHOUSE. Order online, choose the collect delivery option and we will email you when ready. Usually within 24 hours.

Returns

Returns are by prior agreement

  • Please email us in the first instance with your details and the product you wish to return.
     
  • We can only consider items that have been sold within the last 30 days and in perfect (re-saleable) condition.
     
  • We regret we cannot accept items that were cut to length (sold by the metre) or were modified (custom-made), for example a splice.
     
  • Upon safe receipt at our premises and inspection for condition, a refund will be made for the purchase price of the individual item less a 15% re-stocking fee. (If ordering a replacement product we usually waive the re-stocking fee).
     
  • Delivery charges will not be refunded.

Description

Synthetic Hemp is one of our most popular ropes – and with good reason.

It looks and feels like a natural hemp rope but is actually made from spun polypropylene. Not only is it soft, flexible and looks like a 'traditional' natural rope, it is weatherproof, stronger and more durable. It won’t swell or shrink when wet, it floats on water, it’s easier on the skin than natural hemp and demonstrates excellent UV resistance.

Synthetic Hemp is recommended for indoors and outdoors use. Our 32mm rope is perfect for rope rails in the house - including bannister rope - and outside - including decking rails, barrier rope, rope rails along fences and flower beds and in children's play areas. It is widely used in public spaces such as parks, tourist attractions and holiday areas.

If you are choosing Synthetic Hemp for decking or garden rails, wait for the rope to arrive before drilling holes. Holes will need to be larger than the rope diameter - we advise drilling a test hole first. Watch our video for guidance and top tips.

The standard finish for this rope is for both the left and right ends to be heat sealed. If you would like to have them either whipped, soft spliced or hard spliced please visit our 'rope end finishes' category. Plus we offer a great range of brass fittings

We only sell the highest quality Synthetic Hemp rope, and because we’re online we can keep our prices low. We specialise in fast delivery so orders placed before 12 noon on a weekday will usually arrive the next day in most parts of the UK.

Outstanding service

Outstanding service. We weren’t sure what rope we wanted so rang to ask if we could visit. The lady on the phone was very friendly and said we were welcome to. On the day we visited the gentleman who helped us was friendly, knowledgeable and patiently answered all our questions. We had to pick the rope up sooner than we anticipated so I emailed and received an answer straight away saying it wasn’t a problem. We drove over and it was ready in 10 minutes. It is so rare to get service of this quality nowadays, we cannot recommend this company highly enough.

Excellent quality and service

Excellent quality and service my rope was cut to the required lengths I requested and it looks amazing around my raised decking. It's only been in place for a few days but the comments from friends and family are a true testament to the quality of the products.

First class experience from start to finish! One weekend I had a little project in my mind's eye for my garden with posts, solar lights and ropes, but I know nothing about ropes. I did a bit of research and found the Ropes Direct website clear and helpful, however I baulked a bit about cutting the rope and adding hooks myself (the video showed the use of a blowtorch). I sent an online query and less than 20 minutes after opening for business on the Monday I had a detailed quote, and an offer to cut the rope and fit the hooks for a very reasonable charge. I also received valuable advice about the "drape" I required. Within 24 hours the ropes, hooks and eyes were delivered! Very impressed with the website, quality of product and particularly the customer service from start to finish. I have no hesitation about recommending Ropes Direct.
