Our 100% natural, unbleached, and undyed 3-strand Cotton Rope is soft, flexible, and a pleasure to handle. Because it is free from chemicals, it is perfectly safe for pets, livestock, and eco-conscious craft projects.

Popular for: animal toys, pet halters, crafts, interior decor, theatre sets and commercial displays.

For one piece of rope: Use the quantity box to let us know the length you require in full metres and we will send you one continuous length (max 220m).

Multiple pieces: Enter the total length in full metres in the quantity box. Then tell us the number and lengths you require using the "Add Order Note" in your cart.

Delivery and Shipping

We operate a very quick turnaround, from the moment you place an order to getting it on board a fast and reliable courier service. They deliver direct to your home or workplace.

NEXT WORKING DAY: Customers in mainland UK (excluding Islands and Scottish Highlands) will usually enjoy next working day delivery on orders placed before midday. When it is really busy the delivery timescale might be 1-2 working days. For heavy items
(over 30kg) the delivery can take a little longer.

COLLECT FROM WAREHOUSE. Order online, choose the collect delivery option and we will email you when ready. Usually within 24 hours.

Returns

Returns are by prior agreement

  • Please email us in the first instance with your details and the product you wish to return.
     
  • We can only consider items that have been sold within the last 30 days and in perfect (re-saleable) condition.
     
  • We regret we cannot accept items that were cut to length (sold by the metre) or were modified (custom-made), for example a splice.
     
  • Upon safe receipt at our premises and inspection for condition, a refund will be made for the purchase price of the individual item less a 15% re-stocking fee. (If ordering a replacement product we usually waive the re-stocking fee).
     
  • Delivery charges will not be refunded.

12mm Cotton Rope – sold by the metre

Cotton is the softest rope in our collection. Lightweight and flexible, it is designed for comfort and ease of use.

The cotton is 100% natural, from a managed harvest, and is unbleached or coloured

While not intended for heavy-duty outdoor loads, its aesthetic appeal and soft grip make it the premier choice for indoor design and handicrafts and many other uses.

The standard finish is for the ends to be bound with pvc tape. If you would like to have them either whipped, end capped, soft spliced or hard spliced please visit our Rope End Finishes Category.

Easy to use

This rope is beautifully soft and flexible, so remember the thickness will easily be changed by pulling taught or flattening – it is made from natural cotton after all.

Takes knots well and is comfortable to grip – rope burns are rare!

The fibres of a natural rope will swell up when wet, making it shrink in length, so allow 10-15% if using in damp or wet conditions.

Not resistant to water, oils, or chemicals.

Selected the 12mm cotton rope and was very pleased with it. A good finish on the product and has a much nicer feel than the rough sisal rope which I was replacing.

I needed to replace some thinner sisal rope and chose to order from 'Ropes Direct' Good decision!

Ideal

I needed to replace the drawstring in a laundry bag we always take on holiday with us, there was nowhere to buy it locally, and I only needed a a few metres. Although this is fatter than the previous rope as I misjudged the width, it still fits well, and the bag looks smart once again. It is strong and supple, so perfect for the job. Delivery was very prompt. Overall, an excellent purchase.

This is very, very beautiful, natural, soft rope. Bought to zig-zag down the side of a banister, it is strong, practical and a feature in itself. Only danger is that its gorgeous texture may be too tempting not to touch and will dirty easily. I don't care, I love it.

First class experience from start to finish! One weekend I had a little project in my mind's eye for my garden with posts, solar lights and ropes, but I know nothing about ropes. I did a bit of research and found the Ropes Direct website clear and helpful, however I baulked a bit about cutting the rope and adding hooks myself (the video showed the use of a blowtorch). I sent an online query and less than 20 minutes after opening for business on the Monday I had a detailed quote, and an offer to cut the rope and fit the hooks for a very reasonable charge. I also received valuable advice about the "drape" I required. Within 24 hours the ropes, hooks and eyes were delivered! Very impressed with the website, quality of product and particularly the customer service from start to finish. I have no hesitation about recommending Ropes Direct.
