Our HMPE winch ropes come in a variety of diameters and strengths:
Our 6mm and 8mm diameters are supplied in two popular lengths: 30m and 50m. They come complete with a standard thimble eye and a 1.5T (tonne) red alloy hook.
Our 10mm, 11mm and 12mm winch cables are supplied in 30m and 38m lengths. They’re fitted with a tubular thimble eye and a 3T (tonne) yellow competition hook.
Regardless of which size you choose, all of our winch ropes are made from the highest quality HMPE with a 12-strand construction. Therefore, they offer a wide range of useful properties.
First and foremost, they demonstrate an incredibly high strength-to-weight ratio.
HMPE is one of the strongest rope materials available on the market, at least eight times stronger than hardened steel and fifteen times stronger than steel wire. As such, our HMPE winch ropes can handle much heavier loads (with a thinner gauge), compared to their steel wire counterparts. And they boast an impressive MBL (minimum breaking load) of 3,000 to 12,100 kilograms.
| DIAMETER | MBL KGs |
|---|---|
| 6mm | 3,000 |
| 8mm | 5,800 |
| 10mm | 9,300 |
| 11mm | 10,600 |
| 12mm | 12,100 |
They are also safer like for like. As HMPE is low stretch (3-4% at breaking load), it doesn’t store anywhere near as much as energy as steel wire whilst under load. This means, if the rope did break during use, it would harmlessly fall to the ground – rather than dangerously snapping back and potentially injuring the user.
In addition, they are:
And as a result, are ideal for use in industry, forestry, farming and 4x4s. Particularly for applications such as heavy-duty lifting that require high strength and low stretch.
