Plan to do rope exercise in 2021

3 rope exercises to try this New Year

Let us guess your New Year’s Resolution for 2021…eat less, move more?

Yep, that’s you, us and most of the country.

For anyone who wishes to shed a few pounds this January, here we suggest a few rope exercises, which are cheap, easy to master and can be done from the comfort of home. Why not give them a try? Invest in a couple of high-quality ropes and get started.

  1. Resistance training

Example of rope exercise

Resistance training is a form of exercise in which you move your body against a weight or force. Most people tend to use dumbbells or resistance bands to create this force. However, bungee cords – such as those sold in our online store – work just as well, and are often much cheaper.

Countless ‘bungee workout’ tutorials can be found online to help. What’s more, five of the most popular exercises are detailed in our former blog ‘Stay fit at home with our bungee workout’, including the one-arm bicep curl, flye, front squat, glute bridge and lateral walk.

Take a look and start to push your body. Not only does this rope exercise enhance muscular strength and endurance, it’s a great way to tone up and can significantly improve your overall fitness.

  1. Skipping

The classic playground game-cum-high-intensity workout.

Did you know, 10 minutes of skipping is equivalent to running 1 mile in 8 minutes? Jumping up and down can improve your cardiovascular fitness, strength, stamina, balance, coordination, and more. It’s a fun rope exercise and can be easily incorporated into your home exercise routine.

Again, do a quick online search and you’ll find many ideas for a beginner, intermediate and advanced skipping workout, with something to suit all ability levels. Simply invest in a length of jute rope, head out onto your garden patio, and you’ll start to see the positive effects in no time.

  1. Battle ropes

Example of rope exercise

Battle ropes are a powerful workout tool. By engaging the whole body, they can help to improve strength and endurance and just a 10-minute session can burn approximately 100 calories.

Battle Ropes are typically used at the gym. But as long as you choose the rope wisely and anchor it safely, there’s no reason why they can’t form part of your home workout – perhaps installed in the garage or basement. Alternatively, you could take them to the local park and train there instead.

For beginners, we recommend using a 32-35mm manila or braided polyester rope. Both options are suitable for indoor and outdoor use and can be used for an extensive range of rope exercises.
