Rope Games
ooking for things to do with the kids this summer? With six long weeks off school, it can be difficult to keep them occupied (especially without breaking the bank!). So why not play a few
rope games
? Not only are they good old-fashion fun, but they’re often an easy way to get kids active. The possibilities are endless and here we’ve listed a few of the most popular activities to get you started.
-
Skipping
This is a great rope game for a child playing alone. All you need is a length of
– such as that available at
– priced at £1 or less. Challenge them to learn different types of jumping skills (e.g. scissor jumps, cross jumps) or time how many jumps they can do in two minutes. Skipping is a fantastic form of exercise and it’s guaranteed to provide hours of entertainment.
-
Tug of war
Tug of war is a classic rope game for kids, that will bring out their competitive side. Simply split them into two teams and see which side pulls the rope over the line first. Here at Ropes Direct, we sell a range of
for both juniors and seniors. Crafted from soft jute, with a strong polypropylene core, they’re built to last and designed specifically with this rope game in mind.
-
Climbing
Kids love to climb – which is why, as part of our ‘
’ collection, we offer a range of outdoor climbing equipment. This includes rope ladders and acrobatic equipment (e.g. trapeze, gym rings). Install them in your back garden and, on a sunny day, the kids will be rushing outside to play. Climbing ropes are another great option. Ready-made from synthetic hemp, you can simply hook them onto a sturdy tree and they will create a wide range of rope activities for kids to enjoy.

-
Limbo
Again, this a great rope game for kids that doesn’t cost the earth. Simply add a length of our
jute rope
to your basket and show them how to play Limbo. It may have been around for years, but this is an old-school activity, that will bring fun and laughter to an otherwise boring summer’s day.
-
Arts and crafts
It’s not the most active of rope activities, but set up a little arts and crafts table – with various rope strings and twines – and, we guarantee, it’ll keep the kids busy on a rainy day. They could make friendship bracelets from
, decorate greetings cards with
, or create a little toy from a ball of string. Let them use their imagination and they’ll have hour-after-hour of fun.
