Cotton cords

It’s as clear as black and white – buy your cotton cord from us

Eager to try out a modern black macrame pattern? Perhaps to create a black cord plant hanger or striking wall hanging? Maybe you’d like to update your curtains with a new bold sash? Or introduce a new on-trend colour to your jewellery making sessions?

Good news – you can now buy black cotton cords from your favourite online rope store, here at RopesDirect.

Cotton cord is the only product that we make in-house at our warehouse in Norfolk. And for a very long time, we’ve stuck to a colour that we know works well – white. However, over the last year or so, we’ve noticed increasing demand for black.

Made from 100% natural unbleached cotton, the fibres of our white cotton cords can be very easily dyed a different colour. You could do this yourself with the help of a couple of YouTube tutorials. But in our long-term quest to make life easier for our customers, we’ve decided to dabble ourselves – introducing a brand new range of black braided cotton cords to our online collection.

The beauty of our black braided cotton cord

Unlike our white cotton cord, which is available in three diameters (3mm, 4mm and 4.5mm), our black cotton cord is currently only being produced in 3mm widths. However, it can be bought by the metre or on 250m reels, and it boasts all the same useful properties as its white counterpart.

Here are just a few reasons why you should shop with us.

  • Durable

Our black braided cotton cord is manufactured in exactly the same way as our white products.

It’s made to the same exacting standards – with a centre core made from natural cotton fibres and a braided outer cotton sheath. The only difference is that this braided outer sheath is dyed black. Therefore, you can expect the same excellent product as always, just in a different colour.

It’s a high-quality and durable cord that’s designed to last.

  • Easy to handle

Made from 100% natural cotton, our black macrame cords are incredibly soft to the touch.

They have a smooth texture that’s easy to grip, yet also demonstrate fantastic knot-ability. The spun cotton fibres are slightly stretchy, without the risk of snapping. Plus they’re lightweight and flexible, making them perfect for hobbies and handicraft projects, such as macrame and jewellery making.

  • Eco-friendly

Derived from the seed of a cotton plant, cotton is a fully natural rope material.

The outer sheath of our black cotton cords may be dyed a different colour, but they’re still made from 100% natural cotton fibres. Which means, you can buy in bulk and use as much black braided cotton cord as you like, without having to worry about the impact you’re having on the planet.

  • Value for money

As we make our black cotton cords in-house – and we’re an exclusively online stockist – we save considerably on overheads. We like to pass those savings on to you as the customer. Which is why, for a comparable level of quality, you’re unlikely to find such affordable cotton cords anywhere else.

Currently available for just 24p per metre, they’re an absolute bargain.

  • Plentiful stock

We can fire up our production machine at the simple push of a button.

Our black macrame cords will always be in stock and available for immediate delivery. Just place your order before noon and, we guarantee, they will be despatched that same afternoon.
